Life vs. Punishment. . .

Written By Esthermay Bentley-Goossen on 14 October 2008

". . . You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
~Psalm 139:13-14

"If they [my daughters] make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby."
~Barak Obama (At a Town Hall Meeting in Johnstown, PA - March, 2008)

I read the story. I am angry. I am crying.

What are these people thinking? How could one counsel someone pregnant in preparation of her getting rid of the baby in her womb? I have compassion for women...I am a woman...but I value life. I am upset reading the story...and I can't stop myself from crying. I am working so very hard with my doctor in trying to make sure I can have a baby once I get married...and then I read this.

I just can't stop from typing, I am sorry. In as much as I don't want to be judgmental I just can't seem to understand what those people were trying to do...there is no such thing as a painless death for that baby in the womb. It's a life there. It's a soul...gift from God...a blessing from God...

God have mercy on us...

I am praying for all women to stay steadfast in times of trials. Babies are never punishments. God loves us and He will not abandon us...He may remind us when we have gone astray, but He will not punish us by taking accountability with our actions!

I have to hit publish now before I type a book...

I have no words. I guess all we can is lift our nation up to God and ask that He please work on us and in us that, whomever our governmental leaders might be, that we look to HIM to truly lead us.

Es, yours is the first wfw I clicked on...I have to dash out the door to pick up our little "punishment"...the joy of my life.

I'm so thankful we taught our daughter love of God and the value of life. There's nothing in the world like watching God make beauty from ashes. Our daughter is an on-fire woman after God's own heart...because she realized that even though she messed up, God gave her what she considers the greatest blessing of her life in her son.

There were at least 7 "mistakes" made in our very extended family. These little blessings have added a dimension to the lives of their mothers and grandmothers (and the rest of the families--my family and my husband's very large family) that is indescribable...

Honey, thanks for reminding us what's real and really important.

P.S. My wfw features my daughter and grandson today.

That leaves me speechless.

This is my first WFW visit of the day too and I am speechless. Truly children are gifts from God, fearfully and wonderfully created. What a sobering reminder of the evil that abounds in our world today.

Here's the insane part: MY TAX DOLLARS PAID FOR THIS!

Another insane piece: The same anti-Americans tearing down our military men are killing our children.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH AMERICA!? It would serve the country right if obama did win this election.

The only difference between Obama and Osama?

GOD HELP AMERICA!
Bless that little Rowan's soul.

God bless him. Rowan. And I guess Obama, too. He needs divine intervention in his life. God help us in November...I'm very concerned.

I have nothing to say. At least that poor poor baby is with Jesus now.

Well, I do have one thing to say. To think that Obama voted against protecting a child like Rowan INFURIATES me.

This post punched me right in the gut. I have never believed that abortion was the right thing to do and you helped reaffirm that belief. Yesterday my husband came home from work, practially frothing at the mouth, about the most recent discoveries he'd made about Obama's abortion stance, and the fact that our tax dollars will be forcing our own bible-believing doctors to "do the deed" or face bad news in their careers. It will use our own tax dollars to pay for our own daughters to get abortions without us ever knowing about it. And so on and so forth. What an absolute outrage.

I am so glad you posted this today. Many of us don't have the nerve to bring up politics or controversial subjects for fear of offending others, but this image of death is far more offensive, don't you think? Thank you again. God bless you.

The thought of a baby being equivalent to "punishment" floors me and leaves me speechless! A joy, a responsibility, a change to your life... yes... but punishment??!! NEVER!

A friend e-mailed your blog address to me and told me that I had to see this. Oh My GOD! My mother told me yesterday that I would need an emotional kick in the butt to be motivated to even vote in this crappy election! You just gave me the motivation. Somethings just come to gether and if Obama support this sick abomination - I'll vote for the other guy! This just makes me so sad mad angry depressed. That little boy is a LIFE! No question.

My mom sent me your blog url and I'm so glad she did. You have an amazing blog. But my God! Help those 7 million babies. I am one of those undecided's. I don't like McCain - but he's got my vote after seeing that that other guy calls a baby like Rowan a punishment. I am angry like every other commenter on here.
AN-GRY!!

wow, that story was so sad. How anyone can call a child punishment is beyond me. I can not even wrap my mind around that.

My number one girl Mariposa sent me.

It sickens me that anyone could possibly be for this kind of thing. Not only is wrong it is the NUMBER ONE CIVIL RIGHTS violation of all time.

I say that people like that are "Anti-fetus rights"
"Anti Fetus health issues"
"Anti life"

these people suck
call them out.

Put it in their face. The abortion stance of this country won't change with Obama as president nor will it change if McCain is but it tells me a lot about a man that thinks this way.
I will link this post on Monday.

Excellent post, carry on.

Thank you for your e-mail and the links. I guess you could say I've been enlightened on this abortion issue. That they use that word CHOICE in that Druge Report post is MADDENING!!!!!! It makes me sad to be part of the female race. I'll bookmark your blog. I AM going to vote. I promise!

This is an extremely painful story. Rowan had a purpose.

This hits deeper for me as I had an abortion 18 years ago in my first trimester. God is still healing my heart. I named her Grace this year, thanks for a 6 week Bible study I took this spring. I've written about this many times online and on my blog.

There are so many women who are in the closet about this and I believe God wants them to receive his healing. And I pray for abortions to end. I hate thinking about numbers of American babies that never get a chance all because of choice. Choice to abort carries a heavy lifetime weight. I know.

Heaven is a beautiful place because of all of these precious children. I can't wait to kiss and embrace my child. God knows I love her.

Oh, Lord, heal our land.

Thank you for sharing this story and this picture.

He makes me absolutely sick to my stomach. There are so many other things that people deal the consequences of a situation. Yet people that think a precious baby is a punishment. Disgusting.

Yes, if Obama and Planned Parenthood get their way, the only doctors and nurses left in this country will be ones who are (a) pro-choice, (b) have violated their consciences, (c) have fled for areas of medicine where they never deal with pregnant women/babies (think dermatology), or (d) losing their license to practice medicine.

Think this is an exaggeration? The Hyde & Weldon Amendments protect health care workers from discrimination on the job for refusing to do abortions. Obama and Biden (and the Clintons) have all gone on record as wanting this legislation overturned.
